Jyoti began her coaching career in 2003 when she sought additional skills to augment her nursing practice and public health specialism of Occupational Health (OH) in the changing world of work. At that time workplace stress had been identified as a pervasive problem.
She certified as a coach with Newcastle College and has continued to update her coaching skills, exploring many different coaching styles & models. Most recently she gained a certificate in Applied Neuroscience (2021 ITS).
Jyoti has found it natural to interweave coaching and nursing skills; she finds many of these skills such as whole body listening, are transferable. She brings her expansive skill set to her coaching clients.
Jyoti firmly believes that incorporating self-care is the first step into healing malaises and restoring health & well-being caused by imbalances of work /life. Hence she applies the biopsychosocial model when coaching.
As a coach with considerable experience, she believes that self-care, and deepening communication with self and other, has an important role to play in client outcomes, because it influences their health & well-being and quality of their life.
Jyoti began nursing 40+ years ago in New Zealand and has lived in the U.K. since 1988.
Graduating as a specialist nurse in OH (SCPHN-OH) in 1999 Jyoti subsequently went on to become the first OH Advisor to be awarded the title of Queen’s Nurse (QN).
She has been exploring modern spirituality since her teens and qualified as Spiritual Companion in 2014 (certified by Open College Of Teachers).
In 2017-2019, she was invited to contribute to the EPICC project to develop and agree European-wide spiritual care education competencies for nursing and midwifery students. She also contributed directly to the chapter on Self Care in the subsequent book (currently in edit).
In 2018, she was invited to join the NHS Health & Well-being taskforce (CNO Advisory group) and in 2020 she was invited to join the Nursing & Midwifery Council steering committee to review professional education standard for public health specialisms.
Jyoti continues her journey and her unique perspective has led her to launch her vision for the future as she continues her work, coaching individuals.
